The Procurri ITAD Process, Step-by-Step
ITAD companies all operate in slightly different ways and the Procurri ITAD process aims to add value to the customer every step of the way. Indeed, ITAD stands for IT Asset Disposition (or commonly, Disposal) but we rarely dispose of anything at all.
So why opt for Procurri over a smaller or more local ITAD business? The proof is in the process…
Step 1: Tagging
Rather than just bundle hardware for processing, Procurri individually labels and tags every piece of equipment. This audit takes place at the client’s site and ensures that every item is accounted for as it passes through the ITAD process for maximum transparency and tracking.
Step 2: Transportation
Every item of hardware is securely transported to the standalone Procurri ITAD facility by unmarked, alarmed, locked, and GPS-tracked vehicles. Experienced and specialist security-cleared staff process the hardware both onto and in the transportation vehicles before everything is transferred to a secure unit for processing. The unit is only used for ITAD purposes with very limited personnel admitted for entry.
Step 3: Reception
When the equipment is transferred into the Procurri ITAD unit, all assets are scanned and logged using the unique identifier assigned in step one. A specialized inventory management system monitors the items through the remainder of the ITAD process as they move through the facility.
Step 4: Data Sanitization
Any data-bearing equipment must be thoroughly wiped and sanitized for safe recycling, refurbishment, or disposal. All stored data is entirely removed so that it is no longer recoverable and after this has been carried out, all assets must be certified by professional engineers as free of data. Data sanitization reports are provided to the customer at this point including full test results for thorough data residue auditing post-removal.
Step 5: Hardware Testing
Procurri aims to recycle, resell, and refurbish as much hardware as possible to avoid it being sent to landfills. This means that at this point, post-data sanitization, equipment is thoroughly tested through stringent hardware audits to ascertain its function and condition; primarily to judge how the process may continue. If considered workable and usable, engineers will provide expert verification of this.
Step 6: Inventorize: Equipment stored for reuse or Equipment resold for optimized returns
Functional machines are disassembled at a component level, stored in a secure Procurri warehouse, and inventorized sufficiently for tracking. At this point, hardware may be assembled, configured, and stored for customer reuse as and when required, or refurbished, packed with industry-standard materials, and remarketed to the industry for resale (with the funds made passed on to the customer).
Step 7: E-waste Management
If assets are faulty or to be retired because they have failed step five, they must be thoroughly destroyed, with all e-waste transported to a certified e-waste recycling partner. These specialist partners of Procurri will ethically and efficiently dispose of parts as best suited to the situation, condition, and materials of the equipment.
Procurri prioritizes recycling, reuse, and resale – and keeps critical security measures in place throughout the ITAD process. Step by step, value is maximized, and customers are kept informed, operating ethically, efficiently, and as environmentally friendly as possible. This is ITAD, but not as you know it!
